This be the Verse

They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra just for you.

But they were fucked up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another's throats.

Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don't have any kids yourself.

Friday Effing Fill-Ins

1. I enjoy writing, blogging, friends, unschoolers, NBTSC, tattoos, piercings, music, reading, photography, and MySpace more than anything else.

2. Blogging satisfies my need for community and writing about pointless (or not so pointless) things.

3. When I look at a full moon, I feel awed and magical and regret that I don't have a camera with me.

4. If I want a snack, I usually reach for a bag of candy or chips or something microwavable. Unhealthy, I know.

5. The most recent movie I saw, 30 Days of Night, made me jump and it made me sad cuz there isn't exactly the happiest of endings.

6. If only I had money to do the things that really matter to me like visiting campers.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to chillin with my parentals and sister, tomorrow my plans include the hunting of the elusive Christmas tree and Sunday, I want to kick NaNoWriMo in the ass and crank out a bunch of words!

Quiet, please, it's time for Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Ways to Win MJ's Heart

Rowdy

This is Rowdy, one of the many horses Hope For Horses has rescued. He and his brother, Sam, are minis. He's currently in rehabilitation, while Sam is ready for adoption. Rowdy is a sweet, curious horse who always comes to see whoever comes into the barn.

Fantasy Movies

I found this article from a few years ago about the super-crazyness everybody's got going for fantasy these days. It's a little out of date, but it's still interesting. And those of you who are fans of the Artemis Fowl, Abarat, or Bartimaeus series will be glad to read it and find out that there are movies in the works for all three. The article doesn't mention it, but there's also a movie coming soon of the Cornelia Funke novel Inkheart, which is one of my favorite books. There was already a movie made of one of her earlier novels, The Theif Lord, a film which didn't do well and no one has heard of, despite the fact that it was better than alot of movies coming out.

Give her hell from us, Peeves

"George," said Fred, "I think we've outgrown a full-time education.""Yeah, I've been feeling that way myself," said George lightly."Time to test our talents in the real world, d'you reckon?" asked Fred."Definitely," said George. And before Umbridge could say a word, they raised their wants and said together, "Accio Brooms!"Harry heard a loud crash somewhere in the distance. Looking to his left he ducked just in time -- Fred and George's broomsticks, one still trailing the heavy chain and iron peg with which Umbridge had fastened them to the wall, were hurtling along the corridor toward their owners. They turned left, streaked down the stairs, and stopped sharply in front of the twins, the chain clattering loudly on the flagged stone floor."We won't be seeing you," Fred told Professor Umbridge, swinging his leg over his broomstick."Yeah, don't bother to keep in touch," said George, mounting his own.Fred looked around at the assembled students and at the silent, watchful crowd."If anybody fancies buying a Portable Swamp, as demonstrated upstairs, come to number ninety-three Diagon Alley -- Weasley's Wizard Wheezes," he said in a loud voice. "Our new premises!""Special discounts to Hogwarts students who swear they're going to use our products to get rid of this old bat," said George, pointing at Professor Umbridge."STOP THEM!" shrieked Umbridge, but it was too late. As the Inquisitorial Squad closed in, Fred and George kicked off from the floor, shooting fifteen feet into the air, the iron peg swinging dangerously below. Fred looked across the hall at the poltergeist bobbing on his level above the crowd."Give her hell from us, Peeves."And Peeves, whom Harry had never seen take an order from a student before, swept his belled hat from his head and sprang to a salute as Fred and George wheeled about to tumultuous applause from the students below and sped out of the open front doors into the glorious sunset. - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

This is kinda what I'm feeling right now

"There are all kinds of courage. It takes a great deal of courage to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends." -Albus Dumbledore

"We must try not to sink beneath our anguish, Harry, but battle on." - Albus Dumbledore

My very favoritest movies

Serenity
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
A wonderful movie based on the series Firefly, which was short-lived, but even better than the movie that followed. From Joss Whedon, the creator of series like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, comes a movie and a show filled with great one-liners, action sequences, and well-crafted characters.

Fight Club
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
From the director of Se7en, Fight Club is an original, twisted movie with new ideas, amazing dialogue, and a story unlike any other. You either hate it or love it and I love it.

Labyrinth
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
An odd fantasy with more than a hint of romance. With more than one original song by star David Bowie tucked in, this movie is a sometimes ridiculous, always delightful story filled with creatures designed by Brian Froud, a genius in his work.

Donnie Darko
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Jake Gyllenhaal plays Donnie, a deeply troubled boy who is told by a rabbitnamed Frank exactly when the world will end. The story spins out of control from there and when it's done it'll leave you thinking for quite awhile.

Love Actually
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
A beautiful movie filled with the stories of many different people whose lives are loosely intertwinned. Perfectly crafted and told, each story is unique and heart-warming. Funny, sad, loving, this movie is one of the greatest romantic comedies ever.

Pride and Prejudice
Keira Knightly must have a knack for choosing amazing movies to star in, because Pride and Prejudice and Love Actually are two of the only chick flicks I like. Pride and Prejudice, based, of course, on the novel by Jane Austen, is the perfect love story of two creative, original characters that live happily ever after.

Interview With the Vampire
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Based on the incredible novel by Anne Rice, the first in the Vampire Chronicles, the book and movie are the tale of Louis Pointe du Lac and Lestat de Lioncourt, two vampires, told from Louis' point of view to a young reporter. The movie was followed years later by The Queen of the Damned, a film adaptation of the third book in the Vampire Chronicles, which, in my opinion, was one of the worst movies made of all time andpartially ruined a glorious book. Interview, on the other hand, is an amazing book-of-a-movie.

Accepted
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
This is a wonderful comedy that is clearly about unschooling to any unschooler. It's a story of freedom, self-discovery, the perils of school, and, of course, acceptance.

V For Vendetta
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
This is a story about a revolution from a horribly corrupt government not too far in the future. It's also a story of strength, self-discovery, love, freedom, and thinking for yourself. It's inspiring, moving, and anarchist.

The Nightmare Before Christmas
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
One of Tim Burton's greatest films, it's a love story, a musical, a fairytale, a Chirstmas movie, a movie about following and discovering your dreams, and being true to yourself.

28 Days Later
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
An infection ravages England, turning everyone into flesh-eating monsters. Our heroes are left to survive and fight the infected in a poignant, well crafted, beautifully scored film about family, love, and the apocalypse.

Dawn of the Dead
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
The George Romero original was a sequel to Night of the Living Dead, which basically created and defined zombie movies. Dawn of the Dead is an incredible movie about survivors of the zombie attack taking refuge in a mall and trying to live their lives.

Land of the Dead
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
The most recent Of the Dead movies, Land of the Dead is grittier than its predecessors, telling the story of a city of survivors, compltetly cut off from the zombies, who are now getting smarter. Eventually, the zombies infilatrate the city and have to be fought off. The film even boasts an appearance from Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright, the minds behind Shaun of the Dead.

Howl's Moving Castle
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
An anime adaptation by Hayao Miyazaki of the Diana Wynne Jones novel, it was nominated for an Academy Award and is, in my opinion, a beautiful movie. Not Miyazaki's best work, or the best movie-of-a-book, but it's my favorite simply because of it's silly nature and glorious story.
